Another Comifuro is done and that’s my last event for 2024! These end of year times felt quite hectic since there’s a shorter gap between convention events I’ve joined – from Chibicon in August, Kira Kira Art Market in October, to Comifuro in November. I’m glad I managed to juggle things and got through it all without major problems.
You can check out my post-Comifuro open sales catalog until 24 November here! I tried to experiment using Jotform instead of Google forms this time, I hope it can be easier to use! As usual, you can also check out stuff via Tokopedia.
First of all, big shoutout to my boothmates: Canaveil, Nekogitan, Asahinasae, Jordoge, and Charoncreates!ย Please do check out their work as well! I’m glad to be able to booth together with them once more, to have reliable teammates to discuss things and work things out together, and also bearing with my yapping and shenanigans ๐๐๐ผ (Especially during event days where my IQ to calculate and remember things seem to drop greatly lmaooo please excuse my brainfart)
We learned to improve things this time with dividing our displays with each section for different artists – which I hope makes it easier and more organized for customers to see, and reorganizing how we count our sales to make it faster to do after-event calculations. Hopefully next event we can brainstorm more ideas to improve things again too!
About CF Preparations Stuff (ha ha ha)
This Comifuro honestly I didn’t get to add much new stuff as much as I want to – the latest merch I’ve released them on Chibicon and Kira Kira Art Market already. I tried to reorganize my display this time and while I’m aware it’s still not the most effective or aesthetic, at least I get to display everything? ๐ I’ll try better next time, it was a big struggle for me to fit them all in okay :’)
Honestly I’ve been feeling panic to jump from preparing one event to another, managing timeline between opening orders and restocking with vendors on time has been a big issue for me – even after years boothing it does not get easier, not to mention this time I have shorter time when things ran out of stock at KKAM event on October ๐ญ There are things I wish I get to do more like adding more stock or printing more new merch, but at the same time I did what I can and glad nothing majorly bad happened.
I was already worried I won’t get a slot for CF since I know there is a big demand of artists wanting to apply, and the registration opening time is uncertain (only date is said, not time so we had to keep checking and refresh the website like crazy). I kept checking even through lunchtime at work hours and thankfully can get in… I hope I can still have this luck for next CF :’)
CF Days Stuff
The fun part of Comifuro is as always to interact with others – as much as I am a socially awkward person with limited social battery ๐ To see customers’ reactions to the stuff I made, meeting up with friends and chatting with other artists, seeing random fandom interactions stuff like cosplay and other people’s variety of merch, those are always the fun part of convention that makes me keep coming back.ย
I will sound like a broken radio after each event for this – but really, thank you for all the support! It still makes my day whenever I know people are getting my stuff, still using the merch I made from years ago, sharing pictures of it, recommending it to their friends, and taking time to visit me. I also received a bunch of sweet gifts and snacks, which greatly helped me to stay awake throughout the day, and there are also those who stayed by when we’re closing booth and helped us taking down the displays. It’s all something I’m thankful for and will not take for granted. Thank you!
I’m sorry if I look tired and confused on event days though, it’s a long day and I am easily tired hahaha, also I can be pretty forgetful… nothing personal just poopoo brain, please do give me a nudge to remind me for those meeting me at the booth! ๐ญย ย
It’s tiring definitely and I’m sure it is for others – hence this time I wanted to give back to others by bringing some koyo (heat patch? salonpas? what do you call these?) as freebies with stickers I made (Ayo pakai koyo means ‘let’s use koyo’).
Unfortunately I underestimated the interest for this after posting the picture so I ran out of the koyo sets on first day ๐ Let’s see if I can bring them again next event or come up with other fun things to share next time!
While of course there are always things that can be improved on the event days and hectic stuff happening like crowd or ticketing management, I appreciate that this CF has better signage of the booth number areas and bigger space between booths, and also better web catalog where we can actually navigate the map and sample works. Rooting for the CF staff that next events will be even better, thanks for the hard work!
Now that Comifuro is over, what’s next?
I don’t have other conventions scheduled for now – I applied for Cocoma on February and will look forward to Comifuro 20 or next Kira Kira Art Market/Chibicon Jakarta, but nothing is for certain yet. Will definitely announce things on my socials once I do have confirmed news!
For December I’ll take a break from orders and merch stuff, since I’ll have a bunch of work and family trips which I’ll be away from my computer for some weeks. Since the past few months have been pretty intense I feel I need some break hahaha.
For next year, I’m still having thoughts over of what I want to do with the content I make next year since there’s only so much I can do with juggling life responsibilities and day job. There are a variety of things I want to do and I know it’s unreasonable to wish I canย do them all consistently, but at the same time it’s hard to narrow it down and choose which ones to focus and which ones to reduce or even put on pause. I feel it’s been a dilemma for me for many years and not going anywhere anytime soon :p
I plan to discontinue some old merch to make room for newer ones and so my booth can look less cluttered, and I want to explore between some new merch types and adding more original works. I wanted to get back into drawing mini comics and opening commissions and to stream more too, haha. It felt greedy but one can dream, I guess? I hope I can arrive at a balance to feel sure of what I want to do soon.
Anyway, we’ll see how it goes and I’ll keep things updated here and in my socials. Thanks for those taking time reading this far, have a nice day!
