So here’s a random life update post, it’s that time of the year to feel sappy heheheh
I recently celebrated my birthday for the third time in my life exactly during an art market convention event day, it’s quite a funny coincidence they keep holding events on that specific day I feel it’s like a funny reminder that ‘hey, you’re getting older, but you’re still a weeb you’ kind of thing!
This year I didn’t get a chance to make much gift for myself like upgrading stream assets or such like previous years, but I had these made for myself to share with my friends and family – Kokoba cookies!
I’ve always wanted to see my mascot Kokoba as cookies Thank you Caramel House for making the cookies look spot on! (To not raise other people’s expectations – no, the cookies are not made by me They will be gifts during events and not for sale!)
It’s a strange feeling that I know some major things changed in my life in the past year, and yet at the same time I’m still, well, the same silly me. While it sometimes made me question if I’m on the right path – like ‘I’m not doing this whole growing up as an adult properly’ or stuff like that – I do feel grateful that I still get the opportunity of time to do the things I enjoy to work on.
I’m also glad to have people around me who have been kind with me with my silly shenanigans. For those who have been a part of it and those taking time to go through the stuff I make (even like reading these posts), thank you. I feel it’s getting more difficult to schedule more things to juggle like events or streams, but I’m glad to have those who are still around.
Anyway, I’m quite a sappy melancholic person at this kind of moments but I will try not to go too long on it lmao. Honestly I miss writing journals and documenting things since I’m pretty forgetful, and it’s a nice feeling to write down things in a longer, freeform way compared to social media posts. So here comes some more yapping!
The latest event I’ve joined is Chibicon Jakarta! I’ve heard of the event being held in other cities, so I was curious to try out what the Jakarta one is like. It’s a one-day smaller booth event – for me it feels to give less pressure compared to bigger events like Comifuro or Doujima and less things to prepare since we don’t have to think of extra things like travel and accommodation.
The event and guest lineups are pretty interesting – in particular, we get to see the great Ladybeard perform live! From the rehearsal in the morning to ending the event with a blast, I definitely had the metal vibes of the PA PA YA!! song stuck in my head for somewhile The cosplay shows are interesting as well and we get a pretty easy view from our booth.
It’s also quite a nostalgia to visit the venue again in SMESCO – it’s one of the earliest venue I went to for boothing in the early days of Comifuro. We’re using a different hall this time on the upper floor though, it got this fancy sky looking dome and some nice carpeted floor!
This time I’m boothing as Mbol Circle accompanied by my reliable boothmates: Charon, Nekogitan, Jordoge, and Canaveil. Please do check out their work as well!
Quick shoutout of thanks for all the gifts! Got a nice surprise of some nice cakes and Kokoba party hat (those who visited our booth might see me wearing it lololol) – and I got this cute Kokoba donut bouquet as well! Greatly appreciate it and these made my day, hehehe.
I’ve been trying to participate in more booth events and putting more thoughts in merch development lately – but it does got a bit difficult to schedule other things, like it was quite sad when I tried to arrange a meetup with friends and the only time we’re all free is much later in October But life happens I guess :’) I understand as we grow older there are more life responsibilities and challenges that keeps each of us busy in different ways.
Thankfully in digital era we can still find other ways to catch up with each other more easily without having to physically meet, as long as both sides are willing to put effort and find understanding with each other. Sending reels and memes, or random pictures of your day and just chilling at voice calls while doing our own stuff, things like that may sound like pretty mundane stuff but I feel it’s a way to connect with others even through busy days.
There are many things I still want to do, but I have to make choices on which things I can still juggle. I thought that with my current workload, I can manage merch making more since I can adjust my own timeline. I’m thinking to release 1 original and 1 fanart merch at least for each event, and to explore experimenting with new merchandise types to learn new things, but we’ll see how it goes.
