Otsufuro! Comifuro 23 Experience

Otsufuro, thank you for Comifuro 23! A little late post because I got down with flu after the event haha, take care of your health guys! As usual, it’s time for some post-event melancholy and thoughts.

I may say this every event and yet my feelings grow the same after finishing an artist alley event and I mean it every time – well yes very tired, but very thankful for the support I’ve received!

For the as always reliable and fun boothmates, for the fun interactions meeting people from same fandoms and seeing feedback live about the merch you make, chatting with fellow artists, shopping more merch yourself and getting inspired by others – those are the things that kept me going back and gives me excitement being in these kind of events. It’s something beyond reading things and interactions on the screen, and something to break the mundane more serious daily life stuff.

This time I had fun doing some goofy cosplay of Baguette Expedition 33 costume with my boothmates, and also spread the Chiikawa love with some sticker freebies! The amount of snacks and Chiikawa freebies I got back makes me happy!

This time I tried out new things this time too like trying 3D printed displays and making new merch types like clickers, and trying out new cashier app for the booth (we used Boother, which I talked about in my other post more). I’m glad to learn new things of what new things work and figuring out things we can do better next time.

This CF got a bigger hall area than before so it felt so tiring to go through to visit other friends on the other side of the hall, so unfortunately it was hard to visit everyone I wanted to go to, especially with the crowd as well… The early morning process of getting the nametag was longer than usual and got longer queue, so we got in more tired to start the event. I do still hope next year the event will get better with the crowd management in the future though.

But hey, I managed to get some Chiikawa freebies from others! They’re so cuteee and I wish I could join the community gathering too, I heard people got banners, cosplays, and dancing along to the exercise with the song like that Chiikawa episode.

I’m also thankful for the food & drinks support I got in the event… Friends and family and visitors kept showering us with food and snacks to stay well fed and hydrated. It was the most tiring event of the year, but it always end up being the memorable and had most interactions with people where most mutual artists and community I know are gathering.

This year there’s also interesting web catalog map made by others, like this one and this one, which is very helpful to browse specific fandoms and find artist accounts of each booth. I hope next year we will also have this kind of interactive booth map!

Next stop: Cocoma on January next year, and hopefully… next Comifuro? See you there and stay tuned!
